New for 2025, we are delighted to offer our first summer weaving residencies!
In the months of July and August, four weavers have the opportunity to have an independent focused period of self-study for two weeks each. This is designed to create time and mental space to focus on research and development to inspire a new body of work or develop an existing project in a comfortable, supportive and encouraging environment where you can explore and develop your weaving creativity.
In the studio: You will have access to a 24S loom (either ARM or AVL) if required, and an 8-shaft table loom for proof of concept explorations, as well as materials from Stacey’s considerable yarn stash, and huge inspiration from a wealth of books covering weaving, textiles, art, the natural world, science and philosophy all housed in the studio library.
In the house: Self-catering accommodation with a private bedroom and ensuite bathroom, sharing the kitchen and other interior and exterior living and studio space gives you the freedom to shape your days as you wish, with access to a bicycle to get around locally, although if you wish to take time out to explore the area further, or travel on elsewhere either before or after the residency, it is advisable to hire a car.
General: This is not a teaching course – no teaching will be provided – so applicants need to be experienced at designing and creating their own warps and be proficient and comfortable working independently. Stacey is very happy to discuss ideas and make suggestions if appropriate.
Although this is an area with a vibrant summer life, cultural events, art galleries, rolling countryside, bastide villages, beautiful restaurants and locations to inspire and rejuvenate, the opportunity is open only to serious independent weavers who wish to develop their craft and not as a holiday destination, so only individual applicants are considered who have specific projects in mind.
